Get in the Room: Building Strong Relationships with Believers

Do you ever find yourself reading the Bible but struggling to understand it? Maybe you’re unsure how His Word applies to your life right now. Or perhaps you’re having a hard time remembering what you read, and it leaves you questioning your relationship with God. Here’s the best advice I can give you, something that’s transformed my own walk with God: get in the room.

Whether it’s consistently going to church on Sundays, finding ways to serve, joining small groups, or attending conferences — get in the room!

Getting in the room changes everything sis !!

Why the Room Matters

Getting in the room with other believers can be powerful. Surround yourself with people who are on fire for God, people who are walking the journey you want to be on. Find believers who are further along in their walk. The people you can learn from and who inspire you to grow. When you’re around others who share your passion for God, it becomes easier to grow, stay accountable, and push through the doubts. Remember, the rooms you put yourself in will impact who you are working to become.

Before I dedicated my life to Christ, I did not have any Christian friends or friends that took their faith seriously. I understand just how intimidating this can feel. But I reached a point where I knew I needed community to hold me accountable, help me grow, and give me a safe space to ask questions.

Embrace the Challenge

Let’s be real—making friends as an adult can be tough and all around intimdating. Somehow, it gets harder to put ourselves out there, especially in new or vulnerable situations. But I’ve seen how true it is that “you are who you surround yourself with“. Good or bad, it is what it is! That’s why I encourage everyone to get in the room because having people around you who encourage you in your faith will make all the difference as I can atest for this myself.

Take Small, Brave Steps

Even if you’re nervous, just show up. You may not talk to anyone the first time, and that’s okay. What I’ve found is that by showing up consistently, it becomes less intimidating. You’ll start to understand the flow of events and feel more comfortable each time. By the second or third visit, you’ll feel more confident, more open, and ready to engage— even if it’s just a simple greeting or small talk. Eventually, it becomes easier to get in the room and connect with others.

—These small steps will help build connections, bringing you closer to finding friends who genuinely support your faith and values.

Let God Move in Your Obedience

Whether it’s volunteering, joining a Bible study, or attending an event hosted by one of your favorite faith-based speakers, taking that small step to get in the room opens doors. God can use even the smallest, simplest actions to spark transformation in your life.

So, if you’re longing to grow closer to Him, let this be your next step. Get in the room. If you’re looking for anAllow God to work through those steps, and watch as He shifts things in your heart and deepens your walk with Him.
